National Emergency Management Organization

" Preserving Life and Property"

A Tribute to our Colleague and Friend, Ms. Suleima Celiz, District Coordinator, Orange Walk District, National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) who served the people and government of Belize from 2009 – 2018.

Spread the love

It is a honor to write this tribute to Suleima Celiz –  a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a friend, a colleague and indeed one of NEMO’s best District Emergency Coordinator. It did not matter the situation,  be it a Hurricane or Flood, she took charge and did her work to high standard. She cared for and looked after people affected by disaster as quick as she could. She made sure people received their  assistance whether it was due to flooding in the rural communities or a hurricane in the town. From whichever vantage point, she stood apart as someone special having that take charge without regrets attitude.

Ms. Celiz joined NEMO in February 2009 and was employed as the first District Emergency Coordinator for Orange Walk. Her special leadership abilities and charismatic personality were readily apparent! It was clear that she found her calling as she became one of NEMO’s most outstanding operations manager. Celiz’s contributions to NEMO are significant. Her work ethic was unique but very effective. She visited every village, checked every shelter, assisted in the installation of NEMO  emergency radios, coordinated meetings and training and the list goes on. She was not about style but rather about substance and getting things done. Energy and commitment are words that will stay in our minds when we remember her. Most importantly what we will never forget was her kindness and the love in her heart that she shared with all those who met her.

Wishing that we would have more years with her…. she was one of a kind and will surely be missed  as a colleague, an emergency manager, a sister, our friend. We are in shock, we are stunned by her passing. For sure she will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

You did your share of NEMO’s work, we will continue the rest in your name.

May you Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory!
