A Belize delegation, led by Mr. Daniel Mendez, National Emergency Coordinator for NEMO, is attending the 13th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM 13) in St. Kitts and Nevis from December 2-6, 2024.
The delegation includes, Ms. Brenda Briceño, Humanitarian Officer, NEMO; Mr. Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorologist, National Meteorological (MET) Service of Belize; Ms. Melony Dawson, Manager, City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO); Ms. Jenna Hoare, Emergency Officer, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Belize; Mr. Olusola Oladeji, Health and Nutrition Specialist, UNICEF Belize; Mr. Ryan Zuniga, Nature, Climate, Energy Program Lead, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Belize; Mr. Chad Bowman, Technical Analyst, Climate Action, UNDP Belize; Mr. Zain Dueheney, Programme Coordinator for the Post-Graduate Diploma at Galen University and Regional Coordinator, Avoidable Deaths Network; and Ms. Beyonce Villafranco, Student, Galen University.
Under the theme “Road to Resilience – Checkpoint 2024: Levelling Up for a Dynamic Future,” this event gathers regional and international experts to advance disaster risk reduction, climate action, and resilience-building efforts.
NEMO and UNICEF Belize will present on child-centered shock-responsive systems, while the National MET Service will focus on Early Warning for All (EW4ALL). The Belize delegation will also explore strategic partnerships to strengthen disaster resilience.
