Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management Hon Edmond Castro met yesterday, August 1, 2018, with a visiting high level delegation consisting of members of the House of Representatives of Japan accompanied by other officials.
The delegation included members of Japan’s Parliamentary Committee on Land, Infrastructure Transport and Tourism, and was headed by Akihiro Nishimura, Chairman of the Committee. The delegation also includes representatives in the Embassy of Japan in Jamaica who were accompanying them on their visit to Belize.
The discussions were aimed generally at strengthening bilateral relations; and the delegation did site visits to determine the usefulness and effectiveness command vehicles recently donated to the National Emergency Management (NEMO), the Belize National Fire Service and the Police Department.
The meeting with Honourable Edmond Castro was held at the Edward Laing Building in Belize City and preceded other meetings with Prime Minister Right Hon Dean Barrow and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Wilfred Elrington.
