NEMO Incident Command System Training

On May 20-24, The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) held an Incident Command System (ICS) certification training at its headquarters in Belmopan City for over fifty personnel from multiple agencies such as the National Fire Service, Belize Defense Force, BISARTS and representatives from the Mayor’s Association.

The participants were trained by experienced personnel from Empact International. Empact International is a non-governmental Urban Search and Rescue and disaster response group stationed in the US. They have been working with the National Fire Service and other organizations in Belize for a number of years now. Some topics that were covered during the training are: Delegation of Authority and Management by Objectives, ICS Functional Areas and Command Staff Roles, Initial Actions for Incident Command and Demobilization, Transfer and Command Closeout and Transition to Recovery.
