Inauguration ceremonies were held yesterday for the Lucky Strike Community Center which has just been retrofitted to serve as a Hurricane Shelter.
Speakers included Minister of National Emergency Management and Area Representative Honorable Edmond Castro, Lucky Strike Village Chairman Andrew Chacon, and representatives from NEMO and the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government.
Through the combined efforts of the Area Representative, the Village Council and residents, and the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government, the roof was replaced and the building retrofitted with new bathrooms, windows and doors. Additionally, the National Sports Council assisted in refurbishing the basketball court adjacent to the Community Center.
Besides being fit as a disaster shelter, the repaired and upgraded building will better serve the general community needs of the village.
